Group Tuition

Group Tuition

There are significant benefits to small group tuition. As with individual tuition, we have an initial detailed assessment with you and your child so we understand and develop their specific individual needs, but with group tuition there are a variety of additional benefits.

Students can thrive when working closely with like-minded peers without the distraction of a school classroom; the requirement to share their own ideas with others, as well as engage with differing voices to their own, enhances their understanding of set texts; and writing skills are developed through the requirement to articulate ideas clearly and concisely to others.

Group tuition happens over a termly basis and covers all the core requirements of the syllabus, including: essay structuring, introductions and conclusions; close analysis of texts, language and quotations; integration of context; writing in different formats; engaging with interpretations; and exam and revision techniques.

English Literature - A-level

This is an initial 5 week tuition programme that take students up to the beginning of the Autumn exam series 2020, so is appropriate both for candidates taking their exams after their A-level results in the summer, and for those who have yet to sit their A-levels.

All exam boards use the same assessment objectives when marking their exams, and the sessions focus on these 5 objectives. We use a variety of texts and materials in the sessions, and the small group nature of the tuition means we can focus on the set texts your child is studying.

Sessions will include: essay planning, writing and fulfilling the assessment objectives; close literary analysis; integrating and engaging with contextual materials and frameworks; comparative skills; and engaging with and integrating critical materials.

Students can join mid-way through the course – contact us for more details.
